Shane Spencer grew up in Wapato, Washington, in a place where opportunities were few. He joined the Marine Corps, served his country, and was wounded in battle. After losing his wife to a heart attack, addiction and homelessness followed.

At his lowest point, Shane was found nearly dead, laying in an alley, a helping hand brought him to Yakima Valley Recovery, where he began his recovery from active substance use disorder. From being at deaths door, he became a peer leader in the home. Shane went on to assist in opening more homes and now oversees the house managers of ten of the finest residential recovery homes in the Yakima Valley. Shane is also one of the founding members of the Washington Recovery Alliance, Yakima Valley Chapter.

Today, he spends much of his extra time with his family and helps others find that same light. In seeing hope return to others, he has found peace of mind, good health, and a purpose — to do God’s work. Thank God for Yakima Valley Recovery
