Sylvia's Sanctuary

Sylvia’s Sanctuary is named in loving memory of the founder’s sister, Sylvia, who lost her life as a result of an abusive relationship. Her story is a powerful reminder that addiction and abuse often intersect—and that their effects ripple far beyond the individuals involved, impacting families, friends, and entire communities.

Sylvia’s Sanctuary is a trauma-informed, clean and sober women’s recovery home that operates as a safe house, placing personal safety at the very center of the healing process. The home serves women rising from multiple forms of trauma, including domestic violence, trafficking, PTSD, and substance use disorders.

A carefully maintained no-visitor policy helps preserve the peace, stability, and security of the home, allowing each woman to focus fully on her recovery without fear, distraction, or the intrusion of outside pressures. This structure creates a true sanctuary—one rooted in protection, dignity, and respect.

Located in a quiet, residential setting away from the noise and chaos of downtown Yakima, Sylvia’s Sanctuary offers a calm and restorative environment ideal for healing and personal growth. At the same time, the home remains accessible to local transit and community resources, ensuring residents are supported without sacrificing serenity.

Every aspect of Sylvia’s Sanctuary reflects a deep commitment to safety, stability, and hope—providing women with the space they need to heal, rebuild, and move forward with confidence.
